Best Lansing Pediatricians

When becoming a new parent, you are struck with the task to make so many big decisions in such a short amount of time. One of the biggest decisions will be what family pediatrician you choose for your kids! There are so many great Lansing Pediatricians below are a few that I can recommend. 

I get it! You hear horror stories and look at review after review just to talk yourself out of the doctor who you just thought you made a final decision on! I’ve been there, but I am here to help you through and make it a little bit easier.

What should you consider when looking for a Lansing Pediatrician?

• How many pediatricians are in the office?
• Does the office offer extended hours or weekend hours?
• Do they offer same day sick appointments?
• Do I always get to see my primary pediatrician or do I have to rotate?
• Are there any Nurse Practitioners or Physicians Assistants in the office?
• Do they accept your insurance?
• What happens if you don’t “mesh” with your doctor, can you try another? 
• Are there on call services?

I am going to be biased here and start with the Lansing Pediatrician office that I know best and love for both of my children!

Pediatric Care of Lansing

307 W Lake Lansing Rd, East Lansing, MI 4882

 This is a great choice for so many reasons! We specifically see Dr. Cori A. Hemming and both my kids and I adore her! We have also seen Dr. Melissa P. Long and Dr. Allison Kidwell as well as the other doctors in the office! They have weekend hours, on call services and I always get in the same day if my children need a last minute appointment. Everyone is truly caring and so friendly there, I have never had one complaint! You really cannot go wrong with the amazing care at this office! 

Lansing Pediatric Associates 

2414 Lake Lansing Rd, Lansing, MI 48912

Lansing Peds is another great choice and I know many friends who also take their children here and love it! Dr. Andria Amendt and Stephanie Klein are ones that many seem to love visit after visit, but all providers here are amazing as well! They do provide a range of practitioners including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. They offer after hours on the Saturday as well! 

Great Lakes Pediatric Associates 

3400 Pinetree Rd STE 102, Lansing, MI 48911

I have been recommended Dr. Leslie Reynolds in the past and everyone I talk too always has great things to say about her! This office is closed on the weekends and does only offer care during hours during the weekdays. 

MSU Pediatrics 

MSU pediatrics has three locations! One in Dewitt, Lansing, and Okemos.

These offices are not open on the weekend. Dr. Rachel Christensen in the Dewitt location has had some great reviews! 

Capital Area Pediatrics

Dr. Melissa M. Morin and Dr. Courtney J. Hart are ones that has been recommended to me from this Lansing Pediatrician office! This is a great location as they do offer same day sick appointments for children who need them! And trust me, you will want that as an option!

What if the my Lansing Pediatrician office is closed and we have an urgent care need or emergency?

There are some other options in the area that you are able to take your child to if you are not able to get into your pediatricians office or if you called the after-hours services and your pediatrician would like your child to be seen immediately. 

Lansing Urgent Care – Frandor

This would be my first option! They are truly open 24/7 and I have had to use their location a handful of times in the late hours. Everyone is great here and provides excellent service. Make sure to login online and reserve your appointment, so you’re waiting at home and not in their waiting room! They also have offices in Haslett and Okemos as well during regular business hours during the day.

Lansing Urgent Care – Okemos is another great option if you are closer to Okemos.

Sparrow Children’s ER

In case of a true emergency, always go straight to the ER. They are open 24/7. Sparrow in Lansing has a wonderful children’s. I will say that unless it is an emergency, call your provider first to see what their best advice would be. Since Sparrow is the only hospital in the area specializing in pediatrics, the wait times can be long! But of course, always go straight there or call 911 in a true emergency!
