Who doesn’t love yoga!? In addition to being a great way to get your daily exercise in, it’s a fantastic way to stretch, destress, and loosen up your body. It can be difficult to get time to yourself as a mom, but every once in a while, you deserve to treat yourself to a relaxing sweat. No matter the other priorities in your life, taking the time to take care of yourself is always important! If you’re into yoga, here are a few awesome Ann Arbor yoga studios to take a class at.
This studio is an “alignment-based” yoga studio that really leans into the inner peace and relaxation elements of yoga—they even have classes specifically tailored towards relaxation rather than exercise. Their classes range from 60-90 minutes for levels from beginner all the way up to super advanced. An especially nice perk of this studio is their huge windows, which allow for great airflow in the studio, although they also offer virtual classes if you’re not up to visiting in person. Also, they have an awesome prenatal yoga class if you want to exercise while you’re expecting!
This place has been voted best yoga studio in Washtenaw County every year since 2016, so you know it’s good. They offer a huge variety of yoga classes, including hot and warm yoga, and are really good at providing lots of options to their class members so you can always go at your own pace. They have both virtual and in-person options, and their classes run from 45 minutes to 2 hours, so you can fit them into your schedule however you want to! In addition, they have a really cool program called MySore which allows you to get individualized attention from instructors while you work to get more into yoga. Awesome, right?
This place is all about pushing yourself to your limits—they even have an adorable athletic-wear line called “FThisIsHard”. Their classes are no joke, and will definitely make you feel sore. If you’re looking for a studio that will whip your butt into shape, this is it! They have a ton of great virtual and in-person options, in addition to the option to take individual instruction classes from their experienced instructors. And if you get bored of yoga, they also have a sister studio that teaches pole.
Like the other studios on this list, Ita Yoga provides a variety of in-person and virtual classes, including both live and on-demand virtual yoga classes. This studio specializes in warm yoga, i.e. yoga done at about 80-90 degrees. It’s named after the fabulous owner, Ita, who is super passionate about the practice of yoga and makes sure the classes stay traditional and close to its roots. In other words, if you’re looking for a “purist” yoga experience, look no further. This place is the real deal.
This is far from an exhaustive list; there are so many great Ann Arbor yoga studios for you to perfect your craft. These are just my favorites! Even though yoga might be based on a set of poses shared between studios, there’s still a super wide variety of ways to interpret them. Don’t be afraid to jump into yoga, even if you’re a beginner—your body and mind deserve it!
