Your birth experience is something that you will always remember! Trust me when I say, you want everything to go as smoothly as possible! Well, only if we had that control right!? Something I never really considered when I was pregnant with my two girls was an extra support person during pregnancy and delivery. Thats where Ann Arbor Doulas can come to save the day.
I think I could have benefited greatly from a doula to be honest. I wish I would have known more and was more aware about their services while I was expecting! Even as a nurse, I never really considered hiring one for me! So, here I am on a mission to do the hard part for you! I’m here to find the best of the best Ann Arbor Doulas, so you can sit back and enjoy this beautiful experience of bringing a new life into the world!!
Introducing Brooke below, she was recommended to me by quite a few local mommas and I think you will love what she has to say below!! You can tell how much she truly cares just by reading her responses below! This is a great way to get a judge of her personality to see if you are a great fit!
My clients all seem to have the same review, that I am kind, courteous and nurturing. I have a natural tendency to just take care of everyone around me and always have been that way. So when it comes to my clients, I do what I can to take care of all of their needs and those of their partner. I am also a naturally positive person, my glass is half full. This tends to be very appealing to my customers as well, I am able to help them visualize a positive birthing experience going into it, and can help them to have a positive attitude as well. Positivity and happiness tend to be contagious!
As a birth doula, my services include a minimum of two prenatal appointments. Once I am booked, I offer unlimited access to myself via text, calls and emails. I do help with creating a birth plan if this is needed. While at the birth, I help with comfort measures, position changes, emotional support, partner support, advocacy if needed, and I manage the birth plan. When it comes to managing the birth plan, it means I will make sure all desires are met, if possible. Sometimes, that can be music playing, scents, running a bath, and making sure the rest of the team knows mom’s wishes during the birthing process. I also offer a one on person post birth meeting as well. I am always chatting with clients after they have had their babies, we tend to bond and create a lasting friendship!
I am certified through DONA International, I am neonatal resuscitation certified, I am also a birth assistant for Simply Born. This January 2021, I will be certified in using a TENS unit during labor, so excited about this! I also have had four of my own babies and earned my bachelor’s degree.
I always have a backup doula. I actually have a backup for Lansing and another for Grand Rapids, because of where I live I can easily go either direction!
Honestly, I have been hired when a client was 8 weeks pregnant and when one client was already in labor! I would say it’s best not to wait any later than around 28 weeks, so we do have time to create a relationship before going into labor. But especially if you know which doula you want, then hire them as soon as you are ready!
Two factors to consider: making payments! I do offer payment plans, so the more time you have to plan this out by booking early, the more time you will have to pay for my services, which can be extremely helpful. Also, I typically only take on four clients per month, so you would want to make sure you get on your preferred doulas calendar sooner than later!

A birth doula is for every birthing mother! It does not matter if you are in a hospital, home or birth center. It does not matter if you are planning a medicated or unmedicated birth and it also does not matter if you have hired a midwife. A doula is an addition to your birth team! I stay with you and cater to your needs throughout the labor and delivery process. I also think it is very important for every woman to know that it is not my goal to take anything away from her partner. My goal is to enhance the experience for BOTH of you. Depending on how involved the partner wants to be, which we will establish at prenatal meetings, I will show them how to help and stay involved!
I am extremely passionate about helping women through the transition into motherhood and have found this be my calling in life!
There you have it! I think that we all can say how amazing Brooke is with her clients!
